David DiBella
David DiBellaFounder
Having founded TMAFitness in 2003, David brings over 30 years of martial arts and fitness experience to the studio. Born and raised in Kansas City, David started TMAFitness with the idea of bringing together a community of dedicated and hard-working members by providing the highest level of instruction. David has spent the last 10 years training men, women and children of all ages and skill levels.

David began training in the martial arts when he was 11 and is a 5th degree Black Belt in Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do. David teaches all Martial Arts, Karate Kids, and Kickboxing + Boxing classes. In 2005, David developed the TMAFitness Kickboxing + Boxing fitness program based on the martial arts but geared towards those looking to achieve a high level of fitness in a fun, challenging and safe manner. Helping members achieve their goals is what David enjoys most.

A passion for fitness runs in the family. David lives in Overland Park with his wife and two boys, all of whom are into the martial arts, running, weight training and all things active. David is a KU graduate and holds an MBA.

Melissa Davis
Melissa DavisFitness Instructor, Cancer Exercise Specialist
Melissa has been training and instructing at TMAFitness for the last 8 years. Having benefited from a lifelong pursuit of fitness, Melissa developed our Boot Camp program and oversees all personal training. Working with members on an individual level is what Melissa does best. She is driven to help others achieve their goals.

Melissa is an IWA Certified Weight Trainer and a Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Cancer Exercise Training Institute. She earned her Black Belt in 2010. Melissa works with cancer survivors at Cancer Action and Turning Point in the areas of exercise and wellness.

A mother of 5, Melissa lives in Lenexa where she and her husband can be found training for their next challenge. Melissa enjoys competing in triathlons, running and the martial arts.

Conor has been training and teaching at the studio for 11 years. A 2nd Degree Black Belt, Conor enjoys working with members and teaching the Karate Kids program.

Chris has been training in the martial arts since he was 7. A 2nd Degree Black Belt, Chris teaches Karate Kids, a program he was a student in over a decade ago.

Krissie has been training in the martial arts for 8 years and holds a 1st Degree Black Belt. Krissie, along with her husband David, founded Mindful Defense™ – a comprehensive self-defense program for all skill levels, regardless of age, gender or physical ability.

Jacque found her passion for an active life when she started training in the martial arts while in high school. She continued working out in college, and began lifting and swimming, in addition to earning her 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. After moving to Overland Park in 2008, she found TMAFitness when looking for a place to learn kickboxing. Jacque has been a participant in the kickboxing and boot camp programs at TMA ever since, losing weight and maintaining fitness. She is passionate about strength in all its forms, and constantly improving one’s self.
Katie Garcia
Katie Garcia
Katie Garcia is a certified group fitness instructor through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and holds a specialty certification in Pilates through the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA).

Katie started her fitness career in 2008 at the University of Kansas and has continued it ever since. Katie’s fitness mantra is: You’re always stronger than you think you are!

Betsy has been involved with the Kickboxing + Boxing program at TMAFitness since the beginning. A well-rounded athlete, Betsy enjoys running, weightlifting and kickboxing. She has been training and teaching classes at TMAFitness for 7 years.
Katy Shepherd
Katy Shepherd
Katy began her fitness career in 2008 while attending Rockhurst University. She has been a participant in the kickboxing and boot camp program at TMA since 2011. It was in one of the bootcamp classes where she learned that she really enjoyed running and has since run over five half marathons. She realized that her passion was about being strong, physically and mentally. She loves a new challenge and gets enthusiastic when others join her.
